The SALT Council manages several programs that constitute the ST. TAMMANY SALT COUNCIL SENIOR SECURITY PROGRAM. Each of the program components can be viewed and used separately:
Elder Abuse
Identity Theft
Residential Security & Safety - SEE THE INFORMATION ABOUT THE NEW RESIDENTIAL SECURITY KIT BELOW
Personal Safety
Fire Safety
Driving Safety
Emergency Preparedness
These components are offered during the Senior Security Seminars that are held throughout the parish several times each year. The subjects of each seminar vary based on previous presentations in the area, specific calendar-based issues (Hurricane Season, Christmas Holiday Season, etc.), and specific requests from the sponsoring or host organizations.

SALT SENIOR RESIDENTIAL SECURITY KIT
The SALT Residential Security & Safety program has been expanded with a new pilot project to provide important residential security hardware to St. Tammany parish Seniors. The kit includes a flashing porch light bulb that assists responders in quickly identifying a call for service, a highly reflective full size address sign mounted on metal post and a through- the-door viewer that allows residents to see who is outside the door before opening it.
The cost of the kit is $24.90. For Seniors who qualify for assistance under Federal Guidelines, there is no charge. Those who can afford to pay in full for the components will be asked to do so. Those in between will pay what they can afford. There will be no significant financial qualification process, only an expression from the Senior of qualifying under federal poverty guidelines. Each component will be priced separately so those who don’t require the complete kit can still get the necessary elements they lack. The complete kit is available now. Call the SALT Council Line at 985-809-5455 to make arrangements to receive a kit .
